Maģistra darbā “Latvijas Brīvības cīņu pieminekļu atjaunošana (1987–1998)” tiek pētīta no 1920. līdz 1940. gadam celto Latvijas Brīvības cīņām veltīto pieminekļu atjaunošana no 1987. līdz 1998. gadam. Master’s thesis “Renewal of Monuments Dedicated to Latvian Freedom Battles (1987–1998)” investigates the renewal of monuments dedicated to the Latvian Freedom Battles built between 1920 and 1940 and restored between 1987 and 1998. The study explains the function and purpose of building of these monuments and their significance in the shaping of society’s historical memory. The practical side of the restoration works is described extensively, with special focus on the 23 monuments destroyed during the years of Soviet rule and rebuilt during the respective period. The paper reflects on the great significance of the sociopolitical changes during the third Awakening in the renewal process of the monuments dedicated to the Latvian Freedom Battles.
