Kristiešu un Romas pagānu polemika par nāvi 1.-4.gs.

Abstract

Vidusjūras reģiona vēsture pēdējos gados kļuvusi par aktuālu tēmu, t.sk. reliģija Senajā Romā. Balstoties uz kristīgo un romiešu autoru rakstītajiem darbiem un zināmās Romas katakombās pieejamo mākslu, bakalaura darbs ir veidots par tēmu "Kristiešu un Romas pagānu polemika par nāvi 1.-4.gs.". Darbā tiek pētīts, kā veidojās vai mainījās jau esošā kristiešu un romiešu attieksme pret nāvi un likteni pēc tās un cik lielā mērā šie priekšstati varēja ietekmēt to savstarpējās attiecības, vai tas varēja būt viens no strīdu jautājumiem attiecīgo gadsimtu kristiešu-romiešu konfliktos. Piemēram, tiek petīta mocekļu darbība - kā pret to skatījās kristieši un kā tā ietilpa plašākā romiešu izpratnē par nāvi kā izklaidi. Darba noslēgumā viens no vadošajiem secinājumiem ir tas, ka, pat ja priekšstati par nāvi nebija primārais konflikta iemesls, tie noteikti tos veicināja vairākos veidos - skarot apbedīšanas tradīcijas.

In recent years Mediterranean history has again become a popular research topic, including religious history in Ancient Rome. This Bachelor's paper "Christian and Roman Polemics about Death 1st to 4th CE" is made by analyzing Christian and Roman authors written works and inscriptions and art found in certain Roman catacombs. The focus of this work is on how the new-found or already existing Christian and Roman views on death and afterlife could have influenced their relationions and could differences in these views be one of the reasons for conflict between in them in the respective centuries. For example, one of the tasks put forward is to see, how Christians viewed their martyrs and what were Roman thoughts on martyrdom as part of entertainment. In the end one of the leading conclusions the author of this work comes to, is that views on death, if not a primary reason for dislike between Romans and Christians, certainly are a large part of it. Just because of the fact that these views influenced, for example, morturary behaviour.
