Tiesību jomā lietojamās angļu valodas metaforisku terminu izcelsmes analīze

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs veltīts metaforisko terminu izcelsmes analīzei juridiskajā angļu valodā. Pētījuma mērķis ir izsekot ar vārda nozīmes maiņu veidotu terminu etimoloģiju. Pētījums atklāja tendenci, ka šādu terminu daudzums angļu juridiskajā valodā ir pieaudzis. Pētījuma metodoloģija ietver gan kvalitatīvo analīzi, gan kvantitatīvo analīzi. Iegūtie rezultāti neapstiprināja pētījumam izvirzīto hipotēzi, jo analīzes laikā tika noskaidrots, ka metaforisko terminu īpatsvars, kas radušies nesenos gadsimtos, ir lielāks par metaforisko terminu skaitu, kuru pirmreizējais lietojums atzīmēts agrākos gadsimtos. Tas ļauj secināt, ka mūsdienu juridiskajā angļu valodā nesen veidoti metaforiskie termini dominē par metaforiskajiem terminiem kas veidoti senākos gadsimtos daudzuma ziņā.

The Bachelor Thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the origin of metaphoric terms in English for law. The research is focused on tracing the etymology of terms created by the means of the shift of meaning. The research has revealed a tendency for the number of such terms entering the English legal language to grow with time. The research methods involve qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis. The results of the research have not validated the hypothesis as the analysis showed that there was a higher proportion of metaphoric terms that originated in recent centuries than those that were first attested in earlier centuries. It can be concluded that contemporary legal English terminology predominantly contains metaphoric terms that have been created relatively recently.
