Darbs sastāv no trim daļām. Pirmajā daļā tiek aplūkota korejiešu budisma vēsture laika posmā no reliģijas ienākšanas Korejā Trīs Karaļvalstu periodā līdz tās norietam Čoson dinastijas laikā. The given Bachelor's thesis is devoted to Korean Buddhism. The title of this thesis is “Founders of the Indigenous Korean Buddhism and the Main Buddhist Heritage of Korea”. The purpose of the research is to examine how Buddhism as such came to Korean peninsula, how does indigenous Korean Buddhism’s evolvement took place and what heritage has the religion that once was one of the most influential religions in Korea and which still gains interest among Korean scholars, left. This thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with the history of Korean Buddhism in the period from the introduction of the religion to the Three Kingdoms to its decline during the Joseon dynasty. The second chapter is dedicated to the examination of the philosophy of the two founders of Korean Buddhism – Wonhyo and Uisang, as well as to their way of preaching the Buddha’s teachings. The third chapter reviews the main heritage of Korean Buddhism – the premises of the compilation of Tripitaka Koreana and its creation process, as well as it deals with the overview of the architectural elements peculiar to Buddhist temples in Korea and Haeinsa monastery, which is the repository of the main Korean Buddhist canon.
