Tieksme pēc „laimes” – skaistuma kultūra Dienvdikorejas sabiedrībā

Abstract

Šis darbs fokusējas uz neiespējamajiem skaistuma standartiem kam tiek pakļautas sievietes Korejā. Šis darbs analizē sieviešu cīņas un diskrimināciju ko viņas piedzīvo veicot savu ieeju darba sfērā pēc Korejas kara. Šī darba mērķis ir uzzināt kādi ir iemesli aiz Korejas apsēstības ar izskatu un kādu lomu tas spēlē sieviešu un jauniešu darba un finansiālas stabilitātes meklējumos. Sievietēm tā vēl joprojām ir nepārtraukta cīņa par cik Koreja vēl joprojām ir viena no valstīm ar vislielāko dzimumu peļņas atšķirību. Lai sievietes varētu konkurēt darba sfērā viņām ir nepieciešams ieguldīt sevī gan mentāli, gan fiziski. Šis darbs arī pievēršas citām Korejas problēmām, kuras ir saistītas ar cilvēku izskatu, kā arī to vēsturi Darbs sastāv no četrām daļām: Skaistuma apsēstības cēloņi, ieskats citās Korejas sociālajās problēmās, skaistums un tā spēks un ideālā izskata iegūšana.

This paper focuses on the unrealistic beauty standards that are placed on women in Korea. It examines the struggles and discrimination that women experience while trying to enter the work force after the Korean war. The purpose of this paper was to find out the reasons behind Korea’s obsession with their appearance and how it plays a part in the modern day struggle of women and youths in general to find employment and provide for themselves. For women it’s an on going struggle since Korea is still one of the top contenders for the gender wage gap. In order to get ahead of the game Korean women are required to improve themselves through both physical and mental means . This paper also focuses on other issues that are related with Korea’s strict focus on appearance and the history behind it. This paper consists of four parts: the causes of the obsession with plastic surgery, a brief insight of other social problems in Korea, the power of beauty and obtaining the ideal look.
