Dzimumu līdztiesības terminoloģijas tulkošana latviešu valodā ES dokumentos – ekvivalences un uztveres aspekti

Abstract

Sieviešu un vīriešu līdztiesība ir viena no Eiropas Savienības pamatvērtībām. Diplomdarba tēma: "Dzimumu līdztiesības terminoloģijas tulkošana latviešu valodā ES dokumentos – ekvivalences un uztveres aspekti" ir aktuāla, jo tā ir saistīta ar sabiedrībā notiekošo – dzimumu līdztiesības politikas piemērošanu un diskriminācijas likvidēšanu dažādās jomās. Diplomdarba mērķis – izpētīt dzimumu līdztiesības terminoloģiju, lai šo pētījumu varētu izmantot nozares speciālisti un tulkotāji kā uzziņas materālu. Darba pirmajā sadaļā tiek izpētīta terminoloģija kā zinātnes nozare, ar īso vēsturisko atskati. Otrajā sadaļā tiek piedāvāts īss ieskats Eiropas Savienības likumdošanā un starptautiskās konvencijās, kā arī tiek izskatīts dzimtes jēdziens no lingvistikas puses. Dažādas terminu grupas, kā arī terminu atveidošanas problēmas tiek iztirzātas trešajā sadaļā. Nobeigumā tiek izdarīti secinājumi par esošām dzimumu līdztiesības terminoloģijas nepilnībām.

Equality between women and men is one of the core values of the European Union. The subject of the master thesis: "Translation of gender equality terminology in the EU documents: the aspects of equivalence and perception" is topical since it is connected with current events in society – the implementation of gender equality policies and elimination of discrimination in different fields. The objective of this paper is to conduct a gender equality terminology research, which can be used as a reference material by translators and field experts. The first chapter of the thesis gives a theoretical framework of the terminology as a scientific branch, with short historical review. The second chapter provides an outline of the European Union legislation framework, as well as the concept of gender is reviewed from linguistic point of view. Different term groups, as well as the issues of term translation are presented in the third chapter. In conclusion the findings regarding shortfalls of gender equality terminology are stated.
