Abstract

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir T. S. Eliota krājuma Vecā viltnieka grāmata par praktiskiem kaķiem stilistiskā analīze. Pētījums īpaši pievērsts dzejoļu interpretācijai un tekstam raksturīgajiem stilistiskas paņēmieniem, lai parādītu kādi no tiem izmantoti visbiežāk un kā tie palīdz krājumā pastiprināt domu. Darba teorētiskā daļa nosaka pētījumu pamatu un pārskata būtiskākos teorijas avotus. Dažādu zinātnieku pētījumi skaidro stilistikas jēdzienu, stilistiskās analīzes sarežģītākos momentus un tipiskas stilistiskās pazīmes, kādas autori izmanto savos literārajos darbos. Lai izpētītu sakarību starp stilistiskajām pazīmēm un kontekstu, kādā tās tiek lietotas, izmantota apjomīga pazīmju analīze. Rezultāti parādīja, ka autors izmantojis paplašinātas metaforas, personifikāciju, jaunizdomātus vārdus un dažāda veida atkārtojumus: anaforas, epiforas un paralēlas konstrukcijas kā visnozīmīgākās satura atklāsmei un nozīmes pastiprināšanai. Šī pētījuma rezultāti var turpmāk tikt izmantoti T. S. Eliota citu literāro darbu analīzei. Pētījums ir lietderīgs arī tiem, kam interesē, kā stilistiskie paņēmieni ietekmē literāro darbu kontekstu un kādu efektu tie rada.

The bachelor thesis is conducted to make a stylistic analysis of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. In particular, the research focuses on the interpretation of the poems and the stylistic techniques inherent in the text to indicate what features are used most frequently, and in what way they contribute in enhancing meaning in the collection. The theoretical part of the paper establishes the background of the study by reviewing relevant theoretical sources. Studies of various scholars present the concept of stylistics, the focus of stylistic analysis and the typical stylistic features used by the authors in their literary works. Rich feature analysis method was applied to examine the relationship between the stylistic features and the context in which they are used. The results demonstrated that the author considered extended metaphors, personification, invented names and various types of repetition: anaphora, epistrophe and parallel constructions as the most significant for the conveying the message and enhancing the meaning. The results of this research could be used for further analysis of other literary works of T. S. Eliot. The study is also considered useful for those who are interested in how stylistic techniques influence the context of the literary work and what effect they create.
