This research focuses to the comparative analysis of subtitles in the movie "Good Bye, Lenin!" where the use of grammatical and lexico-semantic transformations has been analyzed. As the concept of the audiovisual translation appeared there only in the middle of the 20th century and the film translation is one of the most unstudied types of translation, the given research presents practically the changes in the text for subtitling in course of time. Theoretical part describes the aspects of translation theory, the audiovisual translation and cross-cultural communication. In the course of the research it has been found out that the language constructions in the Russian translation have been greatly changed which consequently have reduced considerably the number of possible transformations. The present research is based on the study and analysis of 40 grammatical and 28 lexicosemantic transformations. On the basis of the given examples the conclusion has been drawn that in this case, transformations are necessary to transfer the cultural colour of the original language, and the changes have been caused by grammatical distinctions between German and Russian.
