Ilustratīvie piemēri vārdnīcā Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary

Abstract

Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek pētīti ilustratīvie piemēri Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (Oksfordas angļu valodas mācību vārdnīcas) trešajā, piektajā un septītajā izdevumā, kā arī OALD tīmekļa versijā. Pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt ilustratīvos piemērus, kas ir atrodami OALD trīs izdevumos un tīmekļa versijā, noskaidrot kā šie piemēri ir mainījušies gadu gaitā un, kas ir bijis šo izmaiņu cēlonis. Pētījumā tiek izmantotas ilustratīvo piemēru kvantitatīvās un kvalitatīvās analīzes metodes. Kā liecina iegūtie rezultāti, piemēri, kas tika balstīti uz valodas korpusā atrodamajiem piemēriem ir garāki un iekļauj sevī vairāk stilistisko un ar kultūru saistīto informāciju. Ilustratīvo piemēru skaits, salīdzinājumā ar pirms korpusa izdevumiem, ir lielāks.

In this bachelor paper the illustrative examples of the third, fourth and seventh edition of Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (OALD) and online OALD are analysed. The goal of this research is to analyse illustrative examples in three editions of OALD and online OALD, and to establish how these examples have changed during the years and what the cause of these changes was. The methods used in this paper are quantitative, qualitative and comparative analysis of the illustrative examples. The results showed that the corpus-based illustrative examples are longer and include more stylistic and cultural information. The amount of illustrative examples that are provided in the corpus-based editions is greater in comparisons to the pre-corpus editions.
