Japāņu dēmoni jokai: fenomens mūsdienu Japānā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā „Japāņu dēmoni jokai: fenomens mūsdienu Japānā”tiek pētīta jokai jēdziena saistība ar japāņu kultūras identitāti, pieņemot, ka jokai pārstāv japāņu tradicionālo kultūru un tās vērtības. Mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā jokai atšķiras no citiem japāņu mitaloģijas un literāriem tēliem un kāda saikne tiem ir ar japāņu sabiedrību un to kultūras identitāti. Jokai pirmsākumi meklējami jau pirmajos antīkās Japānas literatūras darbos- Ņihonšoki un Kodžiki un tiem ir saikne ar japāņu sabiedrību, to radītāju. Jokai laika gaitā ir vairākkārt pieņēmuši dažādas lomas un fleksabli pielāgojas apstākļiem un laikiem. Tieši tādēļ darbā 1.daļā apskatīts jokai jēdziens vēsturiskā skatījumā un tad 2.daļā novērtēta tā loma mūsdienu sabiedrībā. Lai gan mūsdienās jokai tiek asociēti ar izzūdošo pastorālo ainavu un pagātnes doktrīnām, tie vēl joprojām saglabā savu nozīmīgumu japāņu sabiedrībā, jo tie dominē, kā viena no populārākajām tematikām Japānas medijos. Viens no veidiem, kā tie simbolistiski tiek izmantoti medijos, ir mēģinot atjaunot japāņu saikni ar dabu, kas pārstāv vienu no tradicionālās kultūras aspektiem. Bachelor thesis „Japanese Deamons Yokai as a Phenomenon in Contemporary Japan” inquires about yokai as a concept in relation to Japanese cultural identity, considering that yokai represent the traditional Japanese culture and its values. The goal of this reasearch is to find out, what sets yokai apart from the rest of Japanese mythological and literary characters as well as to find their connection to Japanese society and its cultural identity. The very beginnings of yokai can be found in ancient Japan’s very first literary works- Nihonshoki and Kojiki and they have link to Japanese society as hteir creators. Through the passing times yokai have adopted many roles and are flexibly adapting to the circumstances and the times. It is for this reason, that in the first part of the thesis yokai as a concept is being traced through history, while in the second part of the thesis estimates yokai’s role in modern society. Even though these days yokai are being associated with the vanishing agricultural landscape as well as doctorines of the past, they still have an important role in Japanese society, because they dominate in Japan’s modern media as one of the most popular themes. One way , in which they are symbolically used in media, is through trying to reawaken the bond that the Japanese have with nature, which represents one aspect of traditional culture.
