Kurzemes iedzīvotāju un skandināvu kontakti vēlajā dzelzs laikmetā

Abstract

Maģistra darbā risināts jautājums par kuršu un Ziemeļkurzemes Baltijas somu sakariem ar skandināviem aizvēstures beigās. 1. nodaļa veltīta Kurzemes ģeogrāfijai un apdzīvotībai dzelzs laikmetā. 2. nodaļā apkopoti līdzšinējie sakaru pētījumi bronzas un vidējā dzelzs laikmeta kontekstā. 3. nodaļā analizēti rakstītie avoti par skandināvu aktivitātēm Kurzemē un pretēji – kuršu uzbrukumiem skandināvu zemēm. 4. nodaļā Kurzemes arheoloģiskais materiāls izmantots aktīvāko tirdzniecisko reģionu, importa priekšmetu izcelsmes vietu un hronoloģijas noteikšanai. Pētījuma gaitā secināts, ka rakstītie avoti koncentrējas uz zviedru un dāņu militārajām aktivitātēm Kurzemē, turpretīm arheoloģiskais materiāls liecina par ciešām tirdznieciskām saitēm ar Gotlandes salu.

The Master’s Thesis aims at expanding the knowledge on the relations between the Norsemen and the Curonians and Couronia's Baltic Finns. Chapter 1 indulges on Couronia's geographical situation and the inhabitants in the Iron Age. Chapter 2 focuses on the previous research, linked to the Bronze Age and Middle Iron Age relations. Chapter 3 analyses the written sources, mentioning the Scandinavian activity in the Couronia and vice versa. Chapter 4 explores the archaeological material of the Couronia, helping to discover the regions of trade, places of origin and the timeframe of the relations. In the final part, it is concluded that the written sources focus on the Swede and Dane military activities in the region, while the archaeological material speaks of close trading links with the Isle of Gotland.
