Tulka tēls literatūrā

Abstract

20. gadsimta 2. pusē un 21. gadsimta sākumā daiļliteratūrā aizvien biežāk parādās tulka tēls. Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādas funkcijas pilda šī figūra tekstā, kādas īpašības tai piemīt, kā tiek parādīta personāža nodarbošanās ar mutisko tulkošanu un cik lielā mērā tas atbilst profesijas realitātei. Darbā tiek analizēti 10 daiļliteratūras darbi, un izrādās, rakstnieki ne vienmēr precīzi ataino mutiskās tulkošanas specifiku, dažreiz apzināti vai neapzināti apstiprina maldīgus priekšstatus un mītus par tulkiem, kā arī izmanto šo tēlu kā metaforu. Paralēli tam tiek aktualizēti vairāki problemātiski mutiskās tulkošanas aspekti (piemēram, tulka ētika vai tulkojuma kvalitāte), kas nenoliedzami var dot tulkošanas zinātnei impulsu šo tēmu atkārtotajai iztirzāšanai.

In the latter half of the 20th century and in the early 21st century the figure of the interpreter appears in the literary fiction with ever increasing frequency. The purpose of this master’s thesis is to find out what functions these characters fulfil in the texts, what qualities they possess, how interpreting activities are depicted and to what extent this corresponds with the reality of the profession. The analysis of 10 literary works shows that the writers sometimes are inaccurate and, consciously or unconsciously, confirm wrong assumptions and myths regarding interpreters; in some works, the figure of the interpreter carries metaphoric meaning. Besides, some problematic aspects of interpreting are addressed (e. g. the ethics or the quality of the interpretation), which can be an impetus for the translatology to discuss them one more time.
