Abstract

Kopsavilkums Bakalaura darba Rutas Benediktas “Krizantēma un zobens” analīze mērķis ir apskatīt kritiķu viedokli par Benediktas darbā izvirzītajām japāņu uzvedības modeļu teorijām, kā arī aplūkot tajā nepieminētus, bet pēc kritiķu domām nozīmīgus japāņu dzīves uztveres jautājumus. To, ka izprast japāņu uzvedības modeli ir bijis aktuāli, apliecina minētā darba “Krizantēma un zobens” tapšana. Globalizācijas iespaidam ir pakļautas visas kultūras un sabiedrības, līdz ar to zināšanas un izpratne par citām kultūrām veicina tautu savstarpējo saprašanos un atvieglo komunikāciju to starpā. The aim of the bachelor paper Ruth Benedict “Chrysanthemum and Sword” analysis is to look at critics point of view of the Benedicts analysis of the Japanese cultural patterns stated in the novel, as well as to analyze some parts that have been omitted in the work, but seem important for overall understanding of Japanese views of life. Understanding Japanese culture and their ideology has been a current topic since the beginning of issue of the novel “Chrysanthemum and the Sword” up to this moment, as the development of societies and cultures are now under new stress – globalization. It is necessary to understand one another, in order to not to cause distress. The work consists of five chapters where the main points of the novel are discussed: short summary and analysis of the novel itself, the omitted part of suicide patterns, the obligation principle in Japan, that is defined by on, giri obligation principles and the issues Benedict has faced during her analysis of the Japanese patterns, as well as the influence Benedict had on the decision regarding the fate of Japan’s emperor.
