dc.description.abstract | Ārstēšanās metožu meklējumus smagu saslimšanu gadījumos cilvēki turpina arī tad, ja izārstēšanās prognozes nav augstas. Maģistra darbā problēmsituācija aplūkota no cerības skatpunkta.
dc.description.abstract | Searching for a cure in cases of severe illness continues even if there is no chance to be cured. In this master's thesis which is titled "While one is alive, there is hope": living with severe illness" the situation is analysed from a viewpoint of hope. The aim of the research is to understand what does the maintenance of hope involve and why do people continue to hope. Results of the research indicate that the hope is a part of the culture of illness, which is being learned with the help of doctors, relatives, the media and others. Hope is an attitude which is carefully cultivated. Maintenance of hope does not necessarily mean to expect the salvation, it is living despite the chances to be cured. Hope that is generated during one's life, is being used collectively after one's death.
