Šis pētnieciskais darbs aplūko, kā identitāte un telpa tiek attēlotas Sandras Sisneros romānos „The House on Mango Street” (1989), „Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories” (1992) un „Caramelo” (2003). This paper studies how identity and space are addressed in Sandra Cisneros’ novels The House on Mango Street (1989), Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories (1992) and Caramelo (2003). The goal of the research is to argue that, in the process of displacement and relocation, the negotiation of hybrid identities is influenced by the inhabited space, allowing for the perpetuation of the local in the context of the global. The findings of this research could benefit further studies regarding identity and space in Chicano literature. This research is carried out by methods of close textual analysis in the narratological perspective. The results of this research manifest that the characters in the novels are on a constant quest for their identities and self-knowledge and are faced with the constant issue of belonging and exclusion.
