Sieviešu izglītības atainojums angļu literatūrā – no Mērijas Volstonkraftas līdz Enidai Blaitonai

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts sieviešu izglītības atainojumam angļu literatūrā. Teorētiskajā daļā ir apskatīta sieviešu izglītības vēsture Lielbritānijā ietverot tradicionālos uzskatus par sieviešu intelektu, feminisma ideju attīstību un uzlabojumiem sieviešu tiesību jomā, tradicionālo meiteņu izglītību 18. un19. gadsimtā, kā arī 19. gadsimta otrās puses un 20. gadsimta pirmās puses izglītības reformas. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt, analizēt un salīdzināt sieviešu izglītības atainojumu sekojošos darbos: Mērijas Volstonkraftas ″Sieviešu tiesību aizstāvība″, Šarlotes Brontē ″Džeina Eira″, Annas Brontē ″Agnese Greja″ un Enidas Blaitonas ″Pirmais semestris Meloriju torņos″. Pētījuma gaitā tika izmantotas tādas pētīšanas metodes kā teorētisko avotu analīze un izvēlēto darbu salīdzinošā analīze. Pētījums atklājis, ka minētajos darbos atspoguļotas noteiktā vēsturiskā perioda īpatnības, un šīs rakstnieces vienprātīgi uzsver sieviešu izglītības nepieciešamību un lietderību.

The present thesis investigates the reflection of female education in English literature. The theoretical part is devoted to the study of the history of female education in Great Britain including the traditional concept about female intellect, the development of feminist ideas and the improvement of women’s rights, the traditional ways of educating girls in the 18 th and 19 th century, as well as the education reforms of the second half of the 19 th century and the first half of the 20 th century. The aim of the research is to examine, analyze, and compare the reflection of female education in the following literary works: A Vindication of the Rights of Woman: with Strictures on Political and Moral Subjects by Mary Wollstonecraft, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë, First Term at Malory Towers by Enid Blyton. In the course of the research such methods like a summative analysis of theoretical sources and a comparative analysis of the chosen literary works have been applied. The obtained results demonstrate that representation of female education by different writers reflect the characteristic features of female education of a certain historical period. The study has led to a conclusion that all the writers, considered in the paper, are unanimous in pointing out the necessity and usefulness of female education.
