Klasiskās kultūras tēli kā alūzija uz homoseksualitāti modernajā literatūrā

Abstract

Savā darbā aplūkoju dažu populārāko antīkās kultūras tēlu lietojumu XX un XXI gadsimta literatūrā – dzejā un prozā. Izvēlētajos darbos šo tēlu loma ir norādīt uz darba autora vai varoņa homoseksuālajām interesēm. Šo tēlu izvēli noteikusi to izmantošanas tradīcija homoseksuālajā ‘kopienā’ iepriekšējos gadsimtos, it īpaši XIX gadsimtā, kad veidojusies šādu referenču, ‘kodu’, ‘ikonu’ bāze, uz kuru balstās arī XX un XXI gadsimta autori. Savā darbā mēģinu izsekot šai tradīcijai – kopīgām atsaucēm, kam saknes meklējamas antīkajā kultūrā un kas vieno autorus cauri gadsimtiem. Tieši šādas kopīgas references ir tās, kas ļauj runāt par kopīgu ‘kultūru’, ‘valodu’, kuru saprot un spēj nolasīt izglītots un ieinteresēts lasītājs. Taču šīs alūzijas darbojas arī plašākā auditorijā, kas ir pazīstama ar minētajiem tēliem, to vēsturi, ‘biogrāfiju’.

My paper is focused on the use of some of the more popular figures of ancient culture in 20th and 21st century literature — poetry and prose. In the selected pieces, the role of these figures is to allude to the author’s or protagonist’s homosexual interests. These figures were selected by their traditional use in the homosexual ‘community’ in previous centuries, especially the 19th century, when such ‘codes’ and ‘icons’ were established, later used by authors of 20th and 21st century. In my paper, I try to trace this tradition — the shared references rooted in ancient culture that unite writers throughout centuries. It is mainly these shared references that allow one to speak of a shared ‘culture’, ‘vocabulary’ spoken and understood by an educated and receptive reader. However, these allusions are valid for a wider audience that is familiar with the mentioned figures, their history and ‘biography’.
