Caurviju prasmju attīstīšana zobārstniecībā: satura un valodas integrētā apguve

Abstract

Caurviju prasmju attīstība ir nozīmīga mūsdienu izglītības sastāvdaļa. Tā var tikt sasniegta ar dažādu paņēmienu palīdzību, piemēram, satura un valodas integrētās apguves veidā. Šī maģistra darba mērķis bija izpētīt, kā zobārstniecības un medicīnas jomās studējošie iegūst mācību satura zināšanas, izmantojot angļu valodu kā profesionālās komunikācijas līdzekli. Situācijas izpētes metodoloģija sastāvēja no novērojumu veikšanas, anketēšanas, kā arī no rakstveida materiālu analīzes. Pētījuma rezultāti parādīja, ka caurviju prasmes medicīnā un zobārstniecībā tiek attīstītas, taču nepietiekami, jo studiju procesā tiek vērsta nepietiekama uzmanība informācijas un tehnoloģiju prasmju un līderības attīstīšanai, kas varētu ietekmēt studentu motivāciju. Lai esošo situāciju uzlabotu, būtu nepieciešams veltīt vairāk uzmanības caurviju prasmju iekļaušanai augstāko izglītības iestāžu mācību saturā, kā arī augstāko izglītības iestāžu pasniedzēju apmācībai.

Development of transversal skills is an integral part of the education system nowadays. It can be achieved via such approaches as Content and Language Integrated Learning. The aim of the present Master Thesis was to discover how students of the field of dentistry develop content knowledge using English for professional instrumental purposes. The case study consisted of the analysis of the observation of medicine – related classes, questionnaire administered to the students of medicine and dentistry, as well as documentary analysis. The results of the research revealed that transversal skills in dentistry are developed, however, insufficiently. For instance, little attention is paid to development of Information Communication Technology skills and leadership skills which might have a certain influence on student motivation. In order to improve the current situation, it would be essential to pay more attention to the inclusion of transversal skills into curricula of higher education institutions, as well as to training of instructors working in higher education institutions.
