Pareizrakstības variācijas angļu valodas tīmekļa tekstu korpusa reģistros (CORE)

Abstract

Angļu valodas nacionālās variācijas ir kā puzle, pat dzimtās valodas runātājiem, jo ir daudzas nacionālās variācijas un ir atšķirības ikkatrā no tām. Pētījums balstīts uz divām populārākajām Angļu valodas variācijām – Amerikāņu un Britu Angļu valodu. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt Angļu valodas pareizrakstības atšķirības nacionālajās variācijās, CORE tekstos. Pētījuma jautājums: vai Amerikāņu un Britu pareizrakstība CORE tekstos strikti atbilst Amerikāņu vai Britu pareizrakstības variācijām? Pētījuma metode ir kvalitatīvā un kvantitatīvā korpusa analīze. Darba analīze ir balstīta uz vārdlietojumu biežumu CORE tekstos. Analizējamie vārdi ir no Davies tabulas. Analīzē ir atspoguļoti statistiskie dati ar vārdlietojuma biežuma palīdzību, un arī īpašie gadījumi, kur analizētie vārdi nav lietoti to ierastajā nozīmē. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka Britu vārdi ir izmantoti Amerikāņu tekstos un arī Amerikāņu vārdi ir izmantoti Britu tekstos CORE corpusā. Tas nozīmē, ka pareizrakstība Britu un Amerikāņu tekstos, strikti neatbilst Britu un Amerikāņu pareizrakstības variācijām CORE tekstos.

The national varieties of English language are a puzzle even for native speakers because there are a lot of national varieties and many differences in every one of them. The research is based only on the two most popular national varieties – American and British English. The goal of the research is to investigate the spelling differences of national varieties of English language in the CORE texts. The research question is: does spelling in American or British texts strictly correspond to American English or British English spelling varieties in the CORE texts? The research method is qualitative and quantitative corpus analysis. The analysis of the research is based on the Token frequency. Words under the analysis is from Davies Table. The analysis shows statistical data with a frequency of the words and also show how special cases are dealt with, where the word under analysis is not used in their usual meaning. The result of the study shows that BrE words are used in AmE texts, and AmE words are also used in BrE texts in CORE corpus. This means that spelling in American and British texts do not strictly correspond to American English and British English spelling varieties in the CORE texts.
