Kognitīvo metaforu analīze mākslinieka Ēzopa Roka (Aesop Rock) albumā „Skelets” (Skelethon)

Abstract

Reps ir mūzikas žanrs, kurā valodas daudzpusība un autentiskums spēlē nozīmīgu lomu. Šo aspektu radošā izpausme nereti izpaužas kognitīvajās metaforās. Šajos gadījumos koncepti kā ‘repa duelis’ un performances spējas iekļaujas jaunos kognitīvajos rāmjos, piemēram ‘karš’,‘apokalipse’ un ‘dabas spēki’. Ēzops Roks pieder specifiskai reperu apakšgrupai – mugursomas (backpacker) reperiem, un viņa albums Skelets (Skelethon) tiek uzskatīts par vienu no nozīmīgākajiem darbiem šajā žanrā. Līdz ar to šī darba pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt kognitīvo metaforu lietojumu Ēzopa Roka dziesmu vārdos no albuma ‘Skelets’. Metaforām, kuras identificētas ar metaforu identifikācijas procedūru MIPVU, tika veikta saturanalīze. Pētījuma rezultāti norāda, ka ‘Skeletā’ atrodama universālu un kulturāli specifisku metaforu kombinācija.

Rap is a genre of music in which linguistic versatility and authenticity plays a large role, and its creative expression often translates into cognitive metaphors. Then such concepts as rap battle and performance skills receive new cognitive frameworks of war, apocalypse, and natural forces. Aesop Rock belongs to a specific sub-group of backpacker rappers, and his album Skelethon is considered as one of the most significant works in the genre. Thus, the goal of this paper is to analyse the use of cognitive metaphors in Aesop Rock’s song lyrics from the album Skelethon. Metaphors identified with the metaphor identification procedure MIPVU underwent content analysis. The results show that Skelethon plays on the combination of both universal cognitive metaphors, as well as culturally specific ones.
