Amerikāņu angļu valodas lietvārdu lietojums citu angļu valodas variantu tekstos

Abstract

Nav noslēpums, ka angļu valoda ir viena no izplatītākajām valodām pasaulē, un tiek uzskatīta par vienotu valodu starp tiem, kuru dzimtā valoda nav angļu. Tieši tāpēc tā plašāk pazīstama kā lingua franca. Angļu valoda ir bagāta ar dažādiem dialektiem un tā ir plaši izpaltīta dažādās pasaules valstīs, kā piemēram Amerikas Savienotajās Valstīs, Kanādā, Lielbritānijā un daudzās citās. Amerikas Savienotajām Valstīm ir ļoti liela ietekme uz angļu valodu, jo tā ir viena no lielākajām valstīm pasaulē, ar lielāko daļu angļu valodā runājošo pasaules iedzīvotāju. Tieši tāpēc, pētījuma galvenais mērķis bija apkopot, analizēt un salīdzināt Amerikāņu angļu valodas lietvārdu lietojumu Britu un Kanādas Nacionālajos korpusos. Praktiskā daļa tika veidota balstoties uz teorētisko daļu, ļaujot secināt, ka Amerikāņu angļu valodas lietvārdi ir biežāk izmantoti Kanādas angļu valodas tekstos, nekā Britu angļu valodas korpusā. Britu un Kanādas Angļu valodas korpusu analīze atklāja, ka visbiežāk sastopamie vārdi ir organizācija, programma un centrs; taču visretāk sastopamie vārdi ir teātris un pakalpojums. Tomēr esošais pētījums varētu tikt paplašināts, tajā iekļaujot arī citus angļu valodas variantus.

English language is one of the leading languages in the world, and has been used as a common language between many speakers with different mother tongue, therefore it has been widely known as lingua franca. This language is also known to have many different dialects in different parts of the world, such as United States of America, Canada, Great Britain and many others. United States has a great influence on the English language as it is one of the biggest countries with the majority of the English speaking population. Therefore, the aim of this research was to gather, analyze and compare the corpus study of American English nouns used in British National corpus and Corpus of Canadian English. The theoretical part created a framework for empirical part, allowing to conclude that American English nouns are more frequently used in Canadian English texts rather than British English corpus. The corpus analysis of British and Canadian English corpora revealed that the most frequently used words are organization, program and center, however the least common were theater and favor. Nevertheless, the present research could be expanded taking into consideration also other English language varieties.
