Secināts, ka atslēgvārdi un to vārdkopas var būtiski ietekmēt valsts koptēlu, līdz ar to, to izvēlei jābūt rūpīgi izvērtētai. Mass media coverage of any event is important not only for informative but also for promotional purposes. Nowadays, when people mostly receive information from online channels, the ease to track the needed information is highly important and thus, the choice and use of keywords become decisive not only for the purposes of cohesion and coherence but also for search engine optimization. Therefore, the goal of this research is to identify the keywords and key collocates which are used in the media coverage of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania’s centennial celebrations. The research is conducted on three levels by applying qualitative and quantitative methods of content analysis. The analysis of “Google Trends”, three official websites of centennials and selected news articles demonstrate that there are keywords, that are linked specifically to each country, its history and traditions, and other keywords, that are relevant to the centennial celebrations in general, irrespective of the country. It has been concluded that keywords and key collocates can contribute to the image of a country and thus, should be selected accurately by content generators.
