Vīriešu kimono aktualitāte Japānā 21. gadsimtā

Abstract

Maģistra darba nosaukums ir Vīriešu kimono aktualitāte Japānā 21. gadsimtā. Šī darba mērķis ir izpētīt vīriešu kimono nēsāšanas tradīcijas dažādos Japānas laikmetos un tā un attīstības gaitu, analizējot iemeslus, kāpēc mūsdienās kimono sastopamība vīriešu vidū ir ievērojami samazinājusies, salīdzinot ar sievietēm. Būtiska darba daļa veltīta vīriešu kimono tipoloģijai, izvēršot tā veidus un fiksējot to simboliku, kas skatīta ietērpa aktualitātē un sastopamībā mūslaikos. Pētnieciskā darba izstrādes laikā veikta aptauja, anketējot 100 japāņu vīriešus saistībā ar viņu kimono nēsāšanas paradumiem un relevanci mūsdienās. Iegūtie rezultāti ļāvuši deducēt japāņu tradicionālā ietērpa aktualitāti mūsdienās un iemeslus, kāpēc kimono pēdējā gadsimta gaitā ir strauji zaudējis savu popularitāti vīriešu vidū. Japāņu tradicionālais ietērps kimono gadsimtu miju gaitā ir bijusi svarīga Japānas kultūras sastāvdaļa, kas vēsturisko un politisko izmaiņu, kā arī vesternizācijas un globalizācijas ietekmē vairākkārt mainījusi savu nozīmi un funkcijas sabiedrībā līdz formējusies par to, kāda tā ir sastopama mūsdienās. Līdz pat Meidži laikmeta sākumam šis tradicionālais ietērps tika nēsāts katru dienu, to valkājot gan nacionāli nozīmīgu procesiju, rituālu un ceremoniju laikā, gan arī ikdienā. Lai arī kimono aktualitāte pēdējā gadsimta gaitā ir mazinājusies un to vairs nenēsā kā ikdienas ietērpu, mūsdienās tas vēl joprojām īpaši populārs ir svētku un svarīgu notikumu laikā. Zīmīgi, ka 21. gadsimtā sievietes nēsā kimono daudz biežāk, salīdzinot ar vīriešiem. Maģistra darbs sastāv no trim daļām. Pirmajā daļā tiek aplūkota vīriešu kimono vēsture un attīstības gaita, sākot no Naras līdz Meidži laikmetam un mūsdienām. Otrajā daļā tiek pētīta vīriešu kimono kopšana, tā veidi, detaļas, atribūtika, nēsāšanas tendences mūsdienās, kā arī vīriešu kimono tipi un invarianti dažādos japāņu sporta veidos. Darbu noslēdz trešā daļa, kurā tiek analizēti aptaujas dati par vīriešu kimono aktualitāti, nēsāšanas tendencēm un tradīcijām mūsdienās, veicot secinājumus un rezultātu apkopojumu.

The title of this Master’s thesis is Men’s Kimono Topicality in 21st Century Japan. The main purpose of this work is to study the tradition of wearing and development of the men’s kimono according to Japan's eras, with analysis of the reasons why kimono in 21st century Japanese society is not that common anymore, especially with men. An important part of the work is devoted to the typology of men’s kimono, capturing and expanding upon the symbolism seen and the occurrence of the outfit in modern times. During the research of this work, a survey was taken questioning 100 Japanese men regarding the relation to their kimono wearing habits and relevance to today. The results revealed the lack of dedication to the Japanese traditional costume nowadays and the reasons why kimono has lost its popularity among men in the last century. Japanese traditional attire over time has been an important part of Japanese culture, and as such has repeatedly changed its role and function in society, including the present day under the influence of historical and political change as well as westernization and globalization. Until the beginning of the Meiji era, this traditional outfit was worn every day, including nationally important occasions, rituals and ceremonies, and simple everyday life. Although the significance of kimono has diminished over the last century and is no longer worn as a daily outfit, it is still particularly popular today during festivities and important events. In contrast, Japanese women in the 21st century wear kimono much more often than men. This Master’s thesis consists of three parts. The first part discusses the history and development of the male kimono from the Nara to the Meiji periods to today. The second part examines male kimono care, types, parts, attributes, current wearing trends, as well as men’s kimono types and functions in various Japanese sports. The thesis concludes with the third part, which analyses the survey data on the relevance, wearing habits and tradition of men’s kimono today, thus drawing conclusions and finally, summarizing the results.
