Valodas pareizības izpratne un preskriptīvisma cēloņi un sekas: Latvijas un pasaules pieredze

Abstract

VALODAS PAREIZĪBAS IZPRATNE UN PRESKRIPTĪVISMA CĒLOŅI UN SEKAS: LATVIJAS UN PASAULES PIEREDZE Šis promocijas darbs analizē lingvistisko preskriptīvismu – attieksmi, kas pieprasa valodas normu un pareizības stingru ievērošanu un/vai valodas procesu apzinātu ietekmēšanu. Rietumu (it īpaši anglofonā) lingvistiskā doma 20.gadsimta laikā un līdz pat salīdzinoši nesenai pagātnei bieži ir kritizējusi preskriptīvismu, uzsverot, ka valodniecībai jābūt tikai deskriptīvai; preskriptīvisms nereti asociēts arī ar neiecietību. Tomēr preskriptīvisms ir raksturīgs daudzām kultūrām un laikmetiem un ir visai spilgti izteikts arī latviešu valodas vidē. Salīdzinot preskriptīvisma motivāciju un izpausmes Latvijā un citur pasaulē, kā arī analizējot latviešu un cittautu valodnieku pētījumus un teorijas, šai darbā tiek piedāvāta jauna veida preskriptīvisma klasifikācija – uz cilvēku orientētais, uz valodu orientētais un uz kļūdu orientētais preskriptīvisma virziens. Tiek izteikta arī hipotēze par dažām preskriptīvisma izpausmēm kā nevardarbīgu protestu un agresijas sublimāciju.

PERCEPTION OF LANGUAGE CORRECTNESS AND CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF PRESCRIPTIVISM IN LATVIA AND THE WORLD This doctoral thesis analyzes linguistic prescriptivism – the attitude that commands strict adherence to language norms and correctness, and/or deliberate intervention in language processes. The Western (especially anglophone) linguistic thought, during the 20th century and until relatively recent past, has often been critical of prescriptivism, stressing that linguistics ought to be descriptive only; prescriptivism has also been associated with intolerance. Nevertheless, prescriptivism is characteristic of many cultures and epochs, and appears quite explicitely in Latvian community as well. Comparing the motivation and manifestations of prescriptivism in Latvia and elsewhere in the world, as well as analyzing the research and theories of Latvian and other linguists, this thesis offers a new classification of prescriptivism – human-oriented prescriptivism, language-oriented prescriptivism, and error-oriented prescriptivism. This work also offers a hypothesis that some manifestations of prescriptivism represent a non-violent protest and are sublimation of aggression.
