Biopanka žanra analīze Paolo Bačigalupi romāna “Windup Girl”

Abstract

Šis bakalaura darbs ir vērsts uz Paolo Bacigalupi biopanka romāna ‘’ Vējainā Meitene ‘’ (2009) teksta un žanra analīzi, un iepriekš minētajā romānā apskatītajām, un attēlotajām biopanka idejām. Ar mūsdienu nepārtrauktu biotehnoloģiju un bioinženierijas zinātņu attīstību, biopanka zinātniskās fantastikas apakšgrupa pēta un izaicina ētiskos, un filozofiskos dabas jēdzienus, idejas par cilvēka ģenētisku uzlabošanu, ģenētisko inženieriju, un to, kā šīs izmaniņas ietekmēs cilvēka izpratni par ķermeņa, un autonomā cilvēka definīciju. Darba mērķis ir aplūkot kā P. Bacigalupi biopnka romāns ‘’ Vējainā Meitene’’ atspoguļo biotehnoloģijas un to ietekmi uz cilvēka dzīvi. Bakalaura darba diskusijas daļā uzmanība tika veltīta Paolo Bacigalupi biopanka romāna padziļinātai žanra analīzei un detalizētai diskusijai par posthumanismu, biotehnoloģijām, bioinženieriju, cilvēka filozofiskajām, ētiskajām, un morālajām ideju kopumam, un sapratnei par tām. Pētījuma rezultāti atklāj Paolo Bacigalupi kritisko viedokli par biotehnoloģijām, un to izmantošanu saistībā ar dzīvu organismu mākslīgu radīšanu. Pētījuma secinājumos atklājās, ka ģenētiski modificēti un uzlaboti cilvēki nākotnē var aizstāt dabīgus cilvēkus to pārākuma dēļ. This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the textual and genre analysis of Paolo Bacigalupi’s biopunk novel ‘’The Windup Girl’’ (2009) and the ideas discussed and depicted within the aforementioned novel. With the continuous modern day development of biotechnologies and bioengineering, biopunk science fiction subgenre explores and challenges the ethical and philosophical concepts of nature, human genetic enhancement, genetic engineering and how these concepts would affect human understanding the idea of body and autonomous human subject. The aim of the thesis is to argue how P. Bacigalupi’s biopunk novel ‘’The Windup Girl’’ reflects on biotechnologies and their impact on human life. The discussion part of the bachelor’s thesis focuses on further in-depth biopunk’s genre analysis of P. Bacigalupi’s ‘’The Windup Girl’’ and detailed discussion of posthumanism, biotechnologies, bioengineering, human philosophical, ethical and moral ideologies. The study results reveal Paolo Bacigalupi’s critical opinion about biotechnologies and its use in regards of artificially creating living organisms. The study conclusions reveal that genetically engineered and enhanced human beings could potentially replace natural human beings in the future due to their superiority.
