Rezultātos balstītas pieejas izmantošana angļu valodas kursa medmāsām izveidē iesācēju līmeņa studentiem

Abstract

Šī darba mērķis ir salīdzināt dažādus mācību programmu izstrādes veidus un rezultātos balstītas pieejas efektivitāti medmāsu angļu valodas prasmes attīstībā. Šī darbā uzmanības centrā bija medmāsu vajadzības, kuras padomju laikā ir ieguvušas vidējo izglītību un mācījušās vācu valodu skolā; tāpēc medmāsām nav vai ir maz izpratnes par angļu valodas sistēmu. Šajā darbā izmantota rezultātos balstīta pieeja mācību programmu izstrādei, kas sākas ar studentu vajadzību identificēšanu, kam seko mācību materiālu izvēle un mācību plāna izstrāde. Lai sasniegtu minēto mērķi, tika izmantota teorētiskās un empīriskās triangulācijas metodes. Tika izstrādāta un izplatīta studentu vajadzību analīzes anketa, tika veiktas intervijas ar medmāsu darba devējiem, lai noteiktu viņu cerības un prasības attiecībā uz kursu, tika analizētas četras angļu valodas mācību grāmatas, kas paredzētas angļu valodas macīšanai medmāsām, un tika izstrādāta mācību programma sešpadsmit mācību nedēļam. Apkopojot praktiskās daļas rezultātus, tika izdarīts sekojošs secinājums: vajadzību analīzes nozīme angļu valodas speciāliem mērķiem mācību programmas izstrādē ir būtiska, jo tā tiek ņemtas vērā izglītojamo grupas personiskās, profesionālās, valodas un mācīšanās vajadzības.

The aim of this paper was to compare different types of curricula and assess the efficiency of backward design approach in the development of the English language proficiency of the nurses. The focus of the present paper was on the needs of the nurses who received their secondary education in the Soviet times and studied German at school; therefore, the nurses have no or little understanding of the English language system. The present paper employed backward design approach to curriculum development that begins with the identification of the students’ needs that is then followed by the selection of the teaching materials and the design of the syllabus. To achieve the goal, the methods of theoretical and empirical triangulation were applied. The students’ needs analysis survey was designed and distributed to the students, the interviews with the employers of the nurses were carried out to define their expectations and requirements about the course, the four coursebooks intended at teaching English for nurses were analysed, and a sixteen-week syllabus was designed. Summarising the results of the study, the following conclusion was reached: the role of a needs analysis in an ESP curriculum development is vital, as it considers the personal, professional, language and learning needs of the group of learners.
