Abstract

Darba tēma ir “Metodistu kustības raksturīgākās iezīmes Anglijā 18.gadsimtā”. Darbā tiek apskatītas šai kustībai raksturīgākās pazīmes, vadlīnijas, kā arī tajos iekļautā teoloģija par Dieva žēlastību. Darba saturs veido priekšstatu par brāļu Vesliju un Dž.Vitfīlda darbību Anglijā, izmantojot jaunas metodes evaņģelizēšanai. Kā arī izklāsta metodistu kustības metodes jeb praktiskos norādījumus, kas 18.gadsimta Anglijas iedzīvotājiem palīdzēja tiekties uz kristiešu perfekciju, pilnveidojot svētumu savā un līdzcilvēku ikdienas dzīvē un sirdīs. Šādas metodistu kustības metodes un praktiskas rūpes par līdzcilvēkiem bija pamats metodistu kustības panākumiem un tālākai metodistu kustības attīstībai līdz pat šodienas metodistu baznīcai.

The theme of this paper is "The characteristic marks of the Methodist movement in England in the 18th century”. This movement's characteristic marks, guidelines and their theology about the grace of God are described and analysed in this paper. This closer look at the work of both the Wesley brothers and George Whitfield identifies their use of new methods of evangelizing. It also details methods or practical instruction to be used in the Methodist movement to help inhabitants of England to strive toward Christian perfection in the 18th century, by developing holiness in their and their neighbour's everyday life and heart. These Methodist movement's methods and practical care of one's neighbourwas the foundation of success of the Methodist movement and further development of the Methodism movement up to today's present Methodist Church.
