Ziemeļu upespērlene Margaritifera margaritifera (Linnaeus, 1758) Latvijā: izplatība, populāciju ekoloģija upju baseinu kontekstā un sugas izdzīvošanas iespēju novērtējums

Abstract

Ziemeļu upespērlene Margaritifera margaritifera (Linnaeus, 1758) Latvijā: izplatība, populāciju ekoloģija upju baseinu kontekstā un sugas izdzīvošanas iespēju novērtējums. Pētīta ziemeļu upespērlenes izplatība un sastopamība Latvijā, konstatētas astoņas populācijas. Novērtēta pērļu resursu ekspluatācijas nozīme upespērleņu iznīkšanā iepriekšējos gadsimtos. Laikā no 1999.gada līdz 2009.gadam 209 upēs apsekoti upju posmi, kuru kopējais garums ap 760 km. Pērleņu populācijas konstatētas 8 upēs, bet 7 upēs tikai čaulas vai to fragmenti. Novērtēta populāciju vecumstruktūra un tās izmaiņas ilgākā laika periodā. Pētīts saimniekzivju populācijas stāvoklis un gliemeņu kāpuru attīstība, kā arī iespējas pielietot papildus invadēšanas metodi. Sagatavots upju ekosistēmu hidrobioloģisks un hidroķīmisks novērtējums. Apkopota arī informācija par pārējiem bentosa organismiem upespērleņu populāciju areāla teritorijās. Divām no Latvijas upespērleņu populācijām ir labas izdzīvošanas iespējas, pārējām draud iznīkšana tuvāko gadu desmitu laikā. The Freshwater pearl mussel Margaritifera margaritifera (Linnaeus, 1758) in Latvia: distribution, population ecology in the context of river basins as assessment of the survival possibilities. The distribution and occurrence of the freshwater pearl mussel in Latvia was studied, and eight populations were found. The impact of pearl fishing on mussel abundance in previous centuries was estimated. From 1999 to 2009 river stretches with a total length around 760 km in 209 rivers were surveyed. Pearl mussel populations were found in eight rivers, while in other seven rivers only empty shells or their remains were found. The age structure of populations and its long-term dynamics were investigated. A condition of the host fish population and the development of glochidia were studied, as well as application of artificial infestation method. Hydrobiological and hydrochemical assessment of river ecosystems was performed. The information on other benthic organisms in the pearl mussel distribution areas has been summarized. Two of mussel populations have a good chance of survival, while the other six are under the threat of extinction during next few decades.
