Augstākas izglītības internacionalizācija: ārvalstu studenti Latvijā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā “Augstākās izglītības internacionalizācija: ārvalstu studenti Latvijā” tiek aplūkoti internacionalizācijas procesi augstākās izglītības nozarē Latvijā un pētīti ārvalstu studentu motīvi studijām Latvijā, viņu līdzšinējā pieredze un nākotnes plāni. Pētījumā pielietota kvantitatīvā datu ieguves metode – aptauja, kuras rezultāti ļauj spriest par galvenajām tendencēm internacionalizācijas procesiem Latvijā. Darbā tika pētītas atšķirības dažādu grupu starpā, izceļot valstis, no kurām nācis lielākais respondentu skaits – Indiju un Vāciju, salīdzinot tās savā starpā, kā arī ar studentiem no citām valstīm. Rezultāti liecina, ka starp izdalītajām grupām pastāv nozīmīgas atšķirības. Vācu studentiem Latvija bija vairāk kā otrā iespēja, kad neizdevās tikt sev vēlamajā universitātē kādā citā valstī. Viņi izvēlējās studēt Latvijā, galvenokārt, tikai universitātes un studiju dēļ, kamēr studenti no Indijas bija ieinteresēti arī tādos faktoros kā kultūra, Baltijas reģions un Rīgas pievilcība.

The Bachelor’s thesis “Higher education internationalisation: foreign students in Latvia” examines the internationalisation processes in the field of higher education in Latvia and studies the motives of foreign students to study in Latvia, their current experience and future plans. A quantitative research method has been used in the study - a survey, the results of which allow to look into the main tendencies of internationalisation processes in Latvia. The thesis examines the differences between different groups, emphasizing the countries with the largest numbers of respondents – India and Germany, comparing them with each other as well as with students from other countries. The results show that there are significant differences between the groups. For German students, Latvia is more like a second chance, when they failed to go to their preferred university in another country. They chose to study in Latvia, mainly only for the university and studies, while students from India are also interested in such factors as culture, Baltic region and attractiveness of Riga.
