Grāmatu apskata tekstveide žurnālā "BBC History Magazine"

Abstract

Grāmatu apskati var ievērojami ietekmēt apskatītās grāmatas likteni; tātad recenzentiem jābūt uzmanīgiem, izvēloties valodas līdzekļus. Ne tikai valodai, bet arī teksta struktūrai ir svarīga loma teksta uztverē. Tā kā tekstveide BBC History Magazine žurnālos vēl nebija analizēta, šis pētnieciskais darbs ir veikts ar mērķi aizpildīt šo plaisu. Turklāt tiek aptverti apskatu stils un reģistrs, kā arī ir izanalizēta mērķauditorija. Pētniecības metode, kas bija izvēlēta šim nolūkam, ir diskursa analīze. Apskatu ievados un nobeigumos bija identificēti struktūras veidi, kas atkārtojas vairākos tekstos. Turklāt secināts, ka apskatu valodā apvienoti akadēmiskā un publicistiskā stila elementi un ka 2014. un 2019. gadu apskatu struktūra ir līdzīga, tomēr joprojām vērojamas svarīgas atšķirības.

Book reviews might highly impact the fate of the reviewed book; thus, reviewers should be careful in their choice of linguistic means. It is not only the language but also the structure of the text that plays an important role in its perception. As there has been no research on the rhetorical organization of book reviews in the BBC History Magazine, the present work aims at covering this gap. Moreover, the paper investigates the style and register of the reviews and analyses the target audience. The research method used to this end is discourse analysis. Several reoccurring patterns were found in the introductions and conclusions of the reviews. Moreover, it was concluded that the language of the reviews combines elements of academic and publicistic styles, and that the structure of 2014 and 2019 issues is similar but still features significant differences.
