Retorika palīdz pārliecināt, iespaidot un ietekmēt auditoriju. To plaši izmanto žurnālistikas jomā, jo tai ir līdzīgi mērķi. Virsraksts ir efektīvs līdzeklis, lai pārliecinātu un stimulētu interesi, jo tas ir pirmais, kam lasītājs pievērš uzmanību. Šajā pētījumā tika analizētas BBC History Magazine virsrakstu retoriskās iezīmes, lai izpētītu virsrakstu pārliecinošo ietekmi. Pētījuma metode bija diskursa analīze. Retoriskās iezīmes tika analizētas sintakses, laika, retorisko līdzekļu izmantošanas un grafiskā attēlojuma ziņā. Atklājās, ka nominatīvais teikums ir visizplatītākā struktūra virsrakstā, pagātne bija visbiežāk satopamā darbības vārda laika forma, metafora un aliterācija bija visizplatītākās stila figūras, kā arī virsrakstos mēdz būt izmantots treknraksta parastais fonts, kombinēts ar krāsām un attēliem. It is widely applied to the field of journalism, as it pursues similar aims. A headline is an effective tool for persuading and arousing interest, as it is the first thing the reader pays attention to. This thesis is devoted to the analysis of rhetorical features of headlines in the BBC History Magazine to investigate the persuasive effect of the headlines. The method of the study was discourse analysis. The rhetorical features of the headlines were analysed in terms of syntax, tense, use of rhetorical devices, and graphical representation. It was revealed that nominative sentence was the most common structure in the headlines, the past tense was the most frequent tense, metaphor and alliteration were the most common stylistic figures, as well as the headlines tend to have bold regular type, combined with colours and images.
