Džeimsa Lī Burka “Deiva Robišo” detektīvromāni ir plaši pazīstami literatūrcienītāju vidū. James Lee Burke’s Dave Robicheaux novels are beloved among the readers of crime fiction, not only because of their mystery plot, but also detailed explorations of various themes, such as masculinity, violence, and race in the 1980s New Orleans. This thesis investigates the importance of jazz as it relates to the narrative structure. Using textual analysis of selected works, interpretation, narrative theories, and close reading, the work succeeded in analysing the instances of the semantic field of jazz, and determining their purpose in the novels. It resulted in a creation of an in-depth analysis of a specific theme and how it exists to support the narrative structure.
