Melnādaino integrācija ASV profesionālajā basketbolā, 20.gs. 60.-80.gadi

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā ir apskatīti integrācijas procesi ASV profesionālajā basketbolā laika posmā no 1950.gada līdz 1980. gadam. Svarīgākais darba akcents ir veltīts 1960.gadiem, kas ietver integrācijas procesu sarežģītāko posmu paralēli ASV sabiedrībā norisinoties afroamerikāņu pilsonisko tiesību kustības aktivitātēm. Apzinoties darba oriģinalitāti latviešu valodā, papildus darbā tika iekļauts neliels ieskats melnādaino integrācijas ASV profesionālajā basketbolā priekšvēsturē pirms 1950.gada. Pētījuma galvenais mērķis ir atspoguļot melnādaino integrācijas procesus Amerikas profesionālajā basketbolā, izšķirt galvenos integrācijas procesa šķēršļus, paralēli noskaidrojot integrācijas veicinātājus. Darba mērķis tika sasniegts, autoram noskaidrojot atbildes uz izvirzītajiem jautājumiem. Pētījums ir sadalīts četrās nodaļās, darba sākumā izskaidrojot ASV profesionālā basketbola izveidi un attīstību, tam otrajā nodaļā pievienojot apskatītā perioda sociālpolitisko fonu. Darbu noslēdz divas būtiskākās nodaļas, kuras apskata integrācijas procesus sīkāk, izšķirot dažādus integrācijas procesu šķēršļu cēloņus un integrācijas procesu veiksmes stāstus. Pēdējās divas nodaļās, ļoti lielu lomu spēlē melnādaino spēlētāju autobiogrāfijas.

The bachelor paper is dedicated to racial integration of the USA professional basketball in timeline of 1950-1980, although acknowledging this particular studies originality in Latvian language, it also includes brief history about racial integration process in American basketball before 1950’s. Work’s greatest part is dedicated to 1960s - the most controversial period of given timeline, including civil rights movement, rise of black power and impact these movements made on integration processes in professional basketball. The aim of the study is to reflect most important events of profession basketball’s racial integration and to separate most important blockers of racial integration from factors that facilitate it. The aim of study was achieved. The author of paper found answers to researched problems. Study consists of 4 chapters. Beginning of work is dedicated to history of American professional basketball, including development of professional leagues and nature of the game. Second chapter of work includes sociopolitical summary of period, and its importance to integration processes. The last two chapters of study are the most important ones, because they include most essential information about biggest success blockers of racial integration, while also including integrations success stories. The last two chapters are mostly based on studies of autobiographical works written by afro American basketball players.
