Jasiunas N. “Stability of the Boreal vegetation area in Holocene, in the northeastern part of Lapland, Finland”. Master thesis. Riga, University of Latvia, Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences, 2021. The main objective of the study is to identify changes in the Boreal vegetation area in the Holocene in Lapland, Finland, using paleoecological study methods. The study also involves data from Jasiunas N. “Development of Boreal forests over the last 9000 years in Lapland, Finland”, bachelor’s thesis. Maza Versezera data was taken from bachelor’s thesis and it was compared with Rozalijas lake data and interpreted. Using pollen analysis was reconstructed vegetation of these two lakes, but for Rozalijas lake was analyzed also other microscopic remains, known as non-pollen, because these remains were in the same pollen samples. In general Rozalijas lake had 142,5 cm thick sedimentary core, it was analyzed where each sample was taken every 0,5 cm. The main three species are the same around these two lakes, pines, birch, alder and spruce. Spruce was enter in both lakes vegetation area, but not at the same time. After spruce arrival was introduced new species which contributed to the increase the biodiversity in the region. The relative relationships between dominant three species has been similar in both study areas. Based on percentage of dominant three species and wide leaves percentage, it can be said that overall the Boreal zone has been stable. In general, the climate has not significantly affected this Boreal zone, since it was warmer 2 C in middle Holocene than it is today, the climate cooling to nowadays, coincides with the expansion of the spurce in this region.
