Romas katoļu baznīcas iniciatīvas holokausta traumas dziedināšanā sabiedrībā: Lietuvas un Latvijas piemēri

Abstract

Maģistra darbā tiek skatīts temats, kas veltīts holokausta traumas pārvarēšanai sabiedrībā un baznīcas darbībām, lai to sekmētu. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt Romas katoļu baznīcas iniciatīvas holokausta traumas dziedināšanā sabiedrībā Latvijā un Lietuvā. Pētījuma gaitā tiek raksturots, kāda ir baznīcas loma pagātnes totalitāro traumu dziedināšanā sabiedrībā. Tāpat uzmanība tiek pievērsta vēsturiskajam kontekstam, lai izprastu, kas ir tie aspekti, kas liek kritiski izvērtē Romas katoļu baznīcas darbības vai attieksmes holokausta laikā, kā arī tiek konstatētas iniciatīvas, ko Vatikāns ir veicis kopš Otrā pasaules kara, lai veicinātu starpreliģiju dialogu un izlīgumu starp kristiešiem un ebrejiem. Darba noslēgumā tiek secināts, ka gan Latvijā, gan Lietuvā pēc neatkarības atjaunošanas Romas katoļu baznīcas attiecības ar ebreju kopienu ir veidojušās ļoti lēni. Abās valstīs bija jātiek galā ar postpadomju mantojumu, tika pārskatīta vēsture un uzsvars tika likts uz “nacionālo traumu” – deportācijām. Tomēr pretēji Latvijai, Romas katoļa baznīca Lietuvā, sekojot pāvesta sniegtajam piemēram attiecībās ar ebrejiem, veic vairāk iniciatīvu, lai veicinātu holokausta traumas dziedināšanu, piemēram, Lietuvas Romas katoļu baznīca ir gatava pārskatīt savu vēsturi, ir sniegusi publisku atvainošanos ebrejiem par savu pasivitāti kara gados, kā arī pakāpeniski veido pilnīgāku dialogu ar ebreju kopienu. Tajā pašā laikā Latvijas Romas katoļu baznīca ļoti maz pievērš uzmanību holokaustam, šobrīd nav gatava izvērtēt savu darbību Otrā pasaules kara gados, nav veikusi publiski atvainošanos, bet attiecībās ar ebreju kopienu ir ļoti formālas un lielā mērā aprobežojas tikai ar baznīcas pārstāvju klātbūtni holokausta piemiņas pasākumos, kurus rīko ebreju kopienu pārstāvji.

The master's thesis deals with the topic of overcoming the trauma of the Holocaust in society and the activities of the church to promote it. The aim of the study is to investigate the initiatives of the Roman Catholic Church in healing the trauma of the Holocaust in society in Latvia and Lithuania. During the research, is described the role of the church in healing the totalitarian traumas of the past in society. Attention is also drawn to the historical context in order to understand the critical aspects of the actions or attitudes of the Roman Catholic Church during the Holocaust, and to find out the steps taken by Vatican since World War II to promote interfaith dialogue and reconciliation between Christians and Jews. At the end of the work, it is concluded that in both Latvia and Lithuania, after the restoration of independence, the relations of the Roman Catholic Church with the Jewish community have developed very slowly. In both countries, it was necessary to deal with the post-Soviet heritage, history was revised, and the emphasis was on "national trauma" - deportations. However, unlike in Latvia, the Roman Catholic Church in Lithuania, following the Pope's example in relations with Jews, is taking more initiatives to promote healing of the Holocaust, for example, the Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church is ready to review its history, has made a public apology to the Jews for their inaction during the war years, as well as gradually forming a fuller dialogue with the Jewish community. At the same time, the Latvian Roman Catholic Church pays very little attention to the Holocaust, is currently not ready to evaluate its activities during the Second World War, has not made public apologies, but relations with the Jewish community are very formal and are largely limited to the presence of church representatives at Holocaust remembrance events organized by representatives of the Jewish community.
