Abstract

Bakalaura darbā ““Komforta sieviešu” traktējums Japānas un ASV presē (1991-1992)” tiek pētīts vēsturiskās atmiņas par “komforta sievietēm”, kas ir atspoguļojums japāņu un Rietumu laikrakstu izdevumos 1991. un 1992. gadā. Darba aktualitāte saistīta ar to, ka 20. gadsimta kara notikumi joprojām ietekmē Japānas un tās kaimiņvalstu attiecības, jo īpaši tēmas kā “komforta sievietes”. 1991. un 1992. gada laikraksti kalpo par lieliskiem analīzes avotiem, jo šo divu gadu laikā “komforta sieviešu” lieta pirmo reizi kopš kara beigām parādījās masu informācijas kanālos un strauji attīstījās. Darba 1. daļā ir izskaidrota “militārā komforta sieviešu” sistēma un raksturots Japānas impērijas valsts institūciju līdzdalība komforta staciju izveidošanā un uzturēšanā. Izmantojot laikrakstu naratīva analīzi, 2. daļā ir apkopots Japānas publikāciju saturs par “komforta sievietēm” un lasītāju viedoklis. 3. daļā ir atklāts ASV laikrakstu saturs un The New York Times lasītāju viedoklis sakarā ar “komforta sieviešu” lietu. The bachelor’s thesis ““Comfort Women” Representation in the Japanese and the USA Newspapers (1991-1992)” examines historical memories of “comfort women” as reflected in Japanese and Western press releases of 1991. and 1992. The topicality of this thesis is due to the fact, that the events of the war in the 20th century still affect relations between Japan and its neighbors, particularly topics like the “comfort women”. The 1991 and 1992 newspapers serve as great sources of analysis as the “comfort women” issue appeared on mass media channels for the first time since the end of the war during these two years and evolved rapidly. The first chapter of the thesis explains the “military comfort women” system and describes the involvement of the Japanese Empire institutions in setting up and maintaining comfort stations. Using a narrative analysis of newspapers, the second chapter summarizes the content of Japanese publications about “comfort women” and readers' views. The third chapter reveals the content of USA newspapers and the views of The New York Times readers regarding the “comfort women” issue.
