Ilgtspējīgai mežu atjaunošanai klimata pārmaiņu kontekstā mežu nozarē arvien populārāks kļūst klimata gudras mežsaimniecības koncepts, kura viena no iezīmēm ir jauku mežaudžu veidošana. For the sustainable regeneration of forests in the context of climate change, the concept of climate smart forestry is becoming increasingly popular in the forest sector. The specific composition of woody plants in mixed stands is able to increase their productivity and reduce the negative effects of potential biotic and abiotic risks. The aim of the study was to experimentally evaluate the competition of early intra-species and interspecies and its impact on the early development of economically significant and potentially economically significant deciduous seedlings in the current and forecast climatic conditions in Latvia. The most representative sample of the seedling lumen area and cell wall thickness analyzed was the 5% largest cell category, showing significant changes in characteristics depending on temperature and competitivness conditions. The most representative sample of stem conductivity was the 20% largest cell category, showing significant differences between competitivness conditions, but the effects were species specific. The morphological characteristics also varied according to the conditions of competition and were species specific.
