Wild bees are globally important pollinators for both native and agricultural vegetation. In Europe and especially in Latvia a lot is still unknown about the bee abundance, distribution, and their plasticity in face of increasing anthropogenic pressure on biotopes. In nature, bee diversity is simultaneously influenced by various environmental factors but also their interaction with bee phenotypes. This bachelor thesis studies the bee diversity in two differently managed agricultural territories in the parish of Saldus, Latvia in the summer of 2021. The bees were sampled in coloured pan traps. Bee diversity was analysed using mixed effect models. Over three sampling periods, 2175 bees from 96 species were captured. Bee diversity was significantly smaller in the intensively managed agricultural territories. The sampling period was the most influential factor on the diversity changes. The studied landscape structures – roadside and forest edge – showed a positive but statistically nonsignificant influence on bee diversity. The effects differed for the honeybee and the studied overall bee population. The tendencies observed in this work align with the research in different regions. In conclusion, some possibilities of future research as well as agricultural management elements that could support bee diversity are suggested.
