TRITIUM PERMEATION EVALUATION THROUGH PROTON EXCHANGE MEMBRANES. Kalniņa P., supervisors: Mg.Chem. Teimane A. S., Dr. Chem. Pajuste E. Bachelor’s thesis, 33 pages, 22 images, 5 tables, 33 literature references, 2 attachments. In Latvian. Hydrogen easily diffuses trough different materials. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate its migration and ability to penetrate different materials, which are designed for use in hydrogen, including hydrogens radioactive isotope tritium, environment. It is important from economical as well as safety aspects regarding gas loses and due to radioactivity of tritium. Permeability of tritium is dependent on materials properties and exploitation conditions. As part of the bachelor’s thesis, the diffusion of tritium to the proton exchange membrane SPEEK was studied, using a pre-developed method for determining the diffusion of tritium. The tritium diffusion coefficient of the SPEEK membrane and the effect of the degree of sulfonation on it were evaluated, as well as the suitability of the method for determining the diffusion coefficient was evaluated.
