Konceptuālās mākslas nojēguma un mākslas darbu izvērtēšanas problemātiskums

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā veiktā pētījuma aizsākums ir neizpratne par darbiem laikmetīgās un konceptuālās mākslas izstādēs. Izmantojot A. Danto un D. Deivija izstrādāto teorētisko ietvaru, kā arī citu konceptuālās mākslas pētnieku darbus, un, analizējot konceptuālās mākslas darbus, autore ir izveidojusi konceptuālās mākslas darbiem raksturīgo pazīmju sarakstu, tādējādi piedāvājot konceptuālās mākslas nojēguma definīciju. Uzmanība tiks pievērsta tādiem mākslas darbiem, kas tuvojas vai pārsniedz mākslas ierastās izpratnes robežas. Bakalaura darba autore argumentē, ka, neskatoties uz mākslas nojēguma problemātiskumu un atšķirīgu mākslas izpratņu saduri, konceptuālā māksla tomēr ir norobežojama no citiem mākslas veidiem un identificējama pēc noteiktām pazīmēm. Līdz ar to ir iespējams formulēt noteiktus konceptuālās mākslas darbu vērtēšanas kritērijus un sniegt relatīvi objektīvu atsauksmi par konceptuālās mākslas darbu izstādēm.

The research presented in the bachelor thesis stems from the puzzlement about works of contemporary and conceptual art. By using the theoretical framework offered by A. Danto, D. Davies, and other influential authors who write about conceptual art or art in general, and by analysing conceptual artworks, the author of the bachelor thesis develops a list of features that are characteristic to conceptual artworks thereby offering a definition of the notion of conceptual art. The focus is on artworks that explore the limits and conception of art as we know it. The author of the bachelor thesis argues that despite the problematic character of the concept of art and the clash between different understandings of art, conceptual art can be delimited from other kinds of art and identified by certain features. Consequently, it is possible to formulate certain evaluation criteria for conceptual artworks and to offer a relatively objective criticism of conceptual art exibitions.
