dc.description.abstract | Bakteriofāgi jeb fāgi ir baktēriju vīrusi, kuri ir sastopami visās ekosistēmās, kur ir atrodamas baktērijas. fāgu īpašības paver plašas iespējas fāgu vai to genomu kodēto produktu praktiskai izmantošanai. Fāgi tiek uzskatīti par visizplatītākām un visdaudzveidīgākām bioloģiskām būtnēm, un uz doto brīdi pasaulē kultūrā ir iegūti un pilnībā sekvencēti tikai neliela daļa no to prognozējamo sugu skaita. Šī darba ietvaros no augsnes tika izolētas septiņas dažādas baktērijas, kuru identificēšanai tika pielietota 16S rRNS gēna sekvencēšana. Divi interesantākie izolāti (Viridibacillus sp., Bacillus sp.) tika izvēlēti kā saimnieki jaunu bakteriofāgu meklējumiem. No tiem pašiem augsnes paraugiem izdevās izolēt pirmo zināmo Viridibacillus inficējošo podofāgu, kā arī jaunu Bacillus miofāgu, kas tika nosaukti par Skaradilu un Krokobeju, respektīvi. | |
dc.description.abstract | Bacteriophages, or phages, are bacterial viruses that are found in all ecosystems where bacteria are found. The properties of phages open wide possibilities for the practical use of phages or the products encoded by their genomes. Phages are considered to be the most abundant and diverse biological entities, and at a given moment only a small fraction of their predicted species have been obtained in culture and fully sequenced worldwide. As part of this work, seven different bacteria were isolated from the soil, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to identify them. The two most interesting isolates (Viridibacillus sp., Bacillus sp.) were chosen as hosts for the search for new bacteriophages. From the same soil samples, the first known Viridibacillus infecting podophage was isolated, as well as a new Bacillus myophage, which were named Skaradils and Krokobejs, respectively. | |
