This paper aims to make a practical contribution to the database of terminology of hydrogen energy in Latvian. The compiled glossary (English – Latvian) is a valuable source of terms for scientists, specialists, companies and Latvian and EU institutions involved in the development of hydrogen energy. This master’s thesis examines terminology theory, terminology principles and guidelines. It provides an insight into the scientific terminology development in the world and Latvia and summarises information on the most important intermediary languages and their influence on terminology in Latvian. A general overview of the role of hydrogen in the energy sector is also provided, as well as information on the contribution of Latvian scientists to hydrogen research. The result is a glossary with 205 hydrogen energy terms. For part of the terms, an in-depth etymological analysis is carried out to establish the origin of the terms.
