Teleoloģiskie apsvērumi tikumu izpratnei katolicismā un modernajā stoicismā

Abstract

Šī darba ietvaros tiek pētīti modernā stoicisma un katolicisma tikumu izpratnes teleoloģiskie aspekti. Lai to veiktu, ir aplūkoti dažādi apsvērumi, kas ietekmē šādu aspektu formulēšanu, nosakot kā tikumu cēloņus, tā mērķus. Gan modernais stoicisms, gan katolicisms tiek aplūkoti ne tikai kā teorētiskas uzskatu sistēmas, bet kā dzīves mākslas, t.i., kā principu kopums, kas tiecas piešķirt konkrētu formu personas esamības veidam. Darba mērķis ir saprast, cik līdzīgas vai atšķirīgas ir abu uzskatu sistēmu teleoloģijas un cik liela ietekme tam ir uz potenciālu komplementaritāti vai antagonismu tikumu izpratnē un praksē.

This paper is concerned with the question about the teleological aspects of virtue in modern stoicism and Catholicism. In order to study this question a variety of aspects will be considered that have a direct influence in formulating both the cause and the end for virtue. Both modern stoicism and Catholicism are not reduced to mere theoretical views but in this paper both are viewed as an ars vivendi, i.e., as a complex of principles that tend to shape a person’s being. The aim of this paper is to properly understand to what degree there are differences or similarities in the teleological views held by both of the aforementioned belief systems and to what degree do these factors influence the potential of mutual cooperation or antagonism in both the understanding and practice of virtue.
