Abstract
This thesis seeks to demonstrate the impact of the Court's interpretation and application of Article 101(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) on the development and integration of the EU's single market. This thesis topic stems from its relevance to contemporary EU law and policy. Despite the existence of numerous legal instruments, the issue of market partitioning continues to undermine the objective of a unified EU single market. The objective of this study was to enhance academic and policy discussions regarding the competition law framework in Europe. To maintain the effectiveness of Article 101(1) TFEU in a world economy that is becoming more interconnected, it is essential to analyse how cross-border value chains impact the application of this article to strike a balance between accessibility and efficiency.
