In the context of athletic performance, especially in volleyball, vertical jump height is of crucial importance. However, research on jump parameters and their relationship to Achilles tendon length and thickness is limited, especially in young athletes who train at a higher level, as most are in early adolescence. This study identified this gap in the literature for the age group, sport and gender studied. Ultrasonography and force plates were used to assess the relationship between Achilles tendon parameters and jump height. Three different tests were used to evaluate jump parameters: countermovement jump, squat jump, jump with a volleyball-specific approach. The participants of the study were 13 National team candidates in the U15 age group in volleyball, who are going through a preparatory training period together. Although no significant correlations were found between Achilles tendon length and thickness with vertical jump height, power, impulse and jump time, a moderate positive significant correlation appeared between volleyball-specific approach jump impulse and Achilles tendon thickness. The study not only provides information about the relationship between Achilles tendon parameters and jump parameters, but also serves as a call for further research in this particular age group. By providing a little insight into the relationship between these parameters, a contribution to sports science is made, enabling coaches and athletes to evaluate athletic performance and better understand the new generation of volleyball.
