Sugu potenciāli var izmantot augsnes attīrīšanai no sāls, taču smago metālu fitoremediācijā tā nav pielietojama. The aim of the study is to determine the salt and heavy metal tolerance and ion accumulation potential of Silene uniflora plants. During greenhouse growth, plants were exposed to Cd, Pb, Mn, Zn salts or NaCl. Chlorophyll a fluorescence, metal concentration in different plant parts, fresh and dry mass, and, in the experiment with salt, soluble ion content were measured. S. uniflora demonstrated the ability to survive with high NaCl and heavy metal concentrations in soil and to develop flowers. Salt reduced biomass of aboveground parts but not that for roots, while heavy metals did not significantly alter morphology or physiology. Initially, metal addition slightly disrupted photochemical reactions, but they recovered later. Na+ mainly accumulated in leaves and stems, surpassing hyperaccumulation thresholds, while Cd, Pb, and Cu accumulated in roots, and Mn and Zn in both roots and leaves, without reaching hyperaccumulation thresholds. S. uniflora shows high tolerance to salt and heavy metals. The species may be useful for soil remediation from salt but is not suitable for heavy metal phytoremediation.
