Kultūras reāliju atveide Elifas Šafakas romānā “The Forty Rules of Love” un tā tulkojumos latviešu, krievu un turku valodā

Abstract

Maģistra darbs ir veltīts Elifas Šafakas romānā “The Forty Rules of Love” ietverto kultūras reāliju izpētei, klasifikācijai un to atveides jautājumiem. Darbs balstīts uz bulgāru lingvistu Sergeja Vlahova un Sidera Florina pētījumu (1986) un reāliju klasifikāciju. Darbā ir apskatītas arī citu lingvistu reāliju klasifikācijas un pētījumi par šo tēmu. Darba praktiskajā daļā tika izveidota romānā “The Forty Rules of Love” ietverto kultūras reāliju klasifikācija četrās valodās (angļu, latviešu, krievu, turku) atbilstoši reāliju tematikai. Tika izpētīti un salīdzināti reāliju atveides paņēmieni šajās valodās. Secinājumos tika konstatēti biežāk izmantotie reāliju atveides paņēmieni, svarīgākie atzinumi tika formulēti tēzēs. Tika secināts, ka kultūras reāliju daudzveidība šajā un citos Elifas Šafakas romānos bagātinātu tulkotās literatūras klāstu latviešu valodā, tāpēc būtu ieteicams vairāk tulkot šīs autores darbus latviešu valodā.

The present Master thesis is dedicated to the study, classification and questions of rendering cultural realia in the novel by Elif Shafak “The Forty Rules of Love”. The thesis ir based on the research made by Bulgarian linguists Sergey Vlakhov and Seader Florin (1986) and on their classification of realia. Other linguists’ research on the subject and their classifications of realia are discussed as well. In the practical part of the thesis, a classification of cultural realia present in the novel "The Forty Rules of Love" was created in four languages (English, Latvian, Russian, Turkish) according to the themes of the realia. The methods of rendering realia in these languages were studied and compared. The most frequently used methods of rendering realia were summed up in the conclusion part of this work, and the most important findings were formulated into theses. It was concluded that the versatility of cultural realia in this and other novels by Elif Shafak would enrich the range of translated literary works in Latvian, so it would be advisable to translate more of her works into Latvian.
