Divdesmit līdz piecdesmit gadus vecu Latvijas iedzīvotāju zināšanas un motivācija par vēža skrīningu

Abstract

Ievads: Latvijā ir augsta saslimstība ar dažādām vēža formām, tai skaitā ar tādām, kurām ir nodrošinātas bezmaksas skrīninga programmas. Tomēr, lai arī vēža skrīnings ļauj atklāt vēzi agrīnās tā stadijās, Latvijas iedzīvotāju atsaucība nav pietiekama. Šāda situācija liek uzdot jautājumu, kādas ir cilvēku zināšanas un motivācija par vēža skrīningu tādā vecuma grupā, kas maksimāli tiek pietuvināta vecumam, uz kuru skrīninga izmeklējumi attiecas, un kuriem skrīninga izmeklējumi vēl tikai plānojas tuvākā vai tālākā nākotnē, lai varētu noskaidrot, kāda ir cilvēku informētība par skrīninga izmeklējumiem, un rast ieteikumus labākai sabiedrības informētībai. Pētījuma mērķis: noskaidrot, kādas ir 20-50 gadus vecu Latvijas iedzīvotāju zināšanas un motivācija piedalīties vēža skrīninga programmās. Materiāli un metodes. Šķērsgriezuma pētījums, kura ietvaros respondenti interneta vietnē www.visidati.lv aizpildīja brīvprātīgu, anonīmu anketu. Pētījuma dati tika apstrādāti, izmantojot datorprogrammas - Microsoft Excel un IMB SPSS v30. Rezultāti. Pētījumā piedalījās 294 respondenti, no kuriem 64 (21,8%) bija vīrieši. No dalībniekiem 121 (41,2%) bija 20-29 gadus veci, 95 (32,3%) 30-39 gadus veci un 78 (26,5%) 40-50 gadus veci. Par onkoloģisko saslimšanu skrīninga programmām bija dzirdējuši 214 (72,8%) dalībnieki un tika novērota statistiski nozīmīga saistība (p=0,007), ka palielinoties izglītības līmenim, informētība pieaug. Nozīmīgākie informācijas avoti par vēža skrīningu ir sociālie tīkli, ārsts vai kāds cits medicīnas darbinieks. Respondenti maldinoši izskatīja, ka Latvijā tiek veikts arī plaušu vēža skrīnings vīriešiem (45,6%) un sievietēm (36,7%), un arī ādas vēža skrīnings - vīriešiem (37,4%) un sievietēm (38,1%). Nākotnē vairums pētījuma dalībnieku (86,4%) plāno veikt skrīninga izmeklējumus, un respondenti ar augstāku izglītības līmeni to plāno veikt biežāk (92,7%), p<0,001 nekā pamatizglītības grupā (55,6%). Secinājumi. Var secināt, ka analizētajā pacientu grupā zināšanas par vēža skrīningu nav pietiekamas. Izglītības līmenis neietekmē zināšanu līmeni par to, taču augstāks izglītības līmenis liecina par biežāku skrīninga izmeklējuma veikšanu nākotnē. Rūpes par savu veselību un ārsta iesaiste ir galvenie motivējošie faktori vēža skrīninga programmu veikšanā, savukārt laba pašsajūta – sūdzību un laika trūkums ir galvenie atturošie faktori.

Introduction: Latvia has a high incidence of various forms of cancer, including those for which free screening programs are available. However, despite the fact that cancer screening enables early detection of the disease, public participation in these programs remains insufficient. This situation raises the question of what level of knowledge and motivation individuals have regarding cancer screening within an age group that closely approaches the target population for these screening tests, but who may not yet be eligible, in order to assess awareness and develop recommendations to improve public information dissemination. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and motivation among Latvian residents aged 20 to 50 regarding participation in cancer screening programs. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which respondents voluntarily completed an anonymous questionnaire on the website www.visidati.lv. The collected data were processed using Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS version 30. Results: A total of 294 respondents participated in the study, including 64 men (21.8%). Among the participants, 121 (41.2%) were aged 20–29, 95 (32.3%) were aged 30–39, and 78 (26.5%) were aged 40–50. A majority of participants (214; 72.8%) had heard about cancer screening programs, and a statistically significant correlation was observed (p = 0.007) indicating that awareness increases with the level of education. The most significant sources of information about cancer screening were social media, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. A notable proportion of respondents mistakenly believed that lung cancer screening is available in Latvia for both men (45.6%) and women (36.7%), as well as skin cancer screening for men (37.4%) and women (38.1%). In the future, most study participants (86.4%) plan to undergo cancer screening, with higher participation intentions among those with higher education (92.7%) compared to those with only basic education (55.6%), p < 0.001. Conclusions: The findings suggest that the level of knowledge about cancer screening in the analyzed age group is insufficient. While education level does not influence knowledge, individuals with higher education are more likely to plan future participation in screening programs. Concern for personal health and involvement of a healthcare provider are the primary motivating factors for participation in cancer screening, whereas a good current health status, lack of symptoms, and time constraints are the main deterrents.
