Takinu Budorcas taxicolor Hudgson, 1850 mītņu telpiskais izmantojums Eiropas zooloģiskajos dārzos

Abstract

Takini Budorcas taxicolor ir maz pētīta un apdraudēta suga, un to aizsardzības prioritāte ir nebrīves populācijas labturība, tādēļ dzīvnieku labturības novērtējumi ir regulāri jāatjauno, lai nodrošinātu dzīvniekiem vislabāko iespējamo aprūpi. Dzīvniekim nebrīvē var tikt veicināta nagu pāraugšana, tādēļ svarīga ir iespēja tos nodeldēt dabiski. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir salīdzināt Eiropas zooloģiskajos dārzos dzīvojošo takinu mītnes telpisko izmantojumu (spatial utilization) un izstrādāt ieteikumus mītnes uzlabošanai. Pētījums tika veikts ar uzvedības novērojumu reģistrēšanas programmu Zoo–Observer–App, novērojumus veicot piecos Eiropas zooloģiskajos dārzos gada garumā, katru mēnesi uzņemot divus 10 minūšu video, vienu no rīta un vienu pēcpusdienā. No iegūtajiem rezultātiem secināts, ka takinu mītnes telpisko izmantojumu galvenokārt ietekmē izvietotie papildinājumi aplokā. Vispiemērotākā mītne takiniem ir izveidota Korkeasaari Zoo, Rīgas Nacionālajā zooloģiskajā dārzā un Zoo Aquarium de Madrid, tomēr, lai tos izmantotu pilnībā, nepieciešams izvietot papildu barotnes. Visvairāk papildinājumi, lai uzlabotu takinu labturību, ir nepieciešami Zoopark Chomutov un Pairi Daiza.

Takin Budorcas taxicolor is a little-studied and endangered species and the welfare of captive populations is a priority in its conservation, therefore animal welfare assessments must be regularly updated to ensure the best possible care for the animals. In captivity, overgrowth of hooves may be promoted, therefore it is important to provide the possibility for them to wear down naturally. The aim of this study is to compare the spatial utilization of takin enclosures in European zoos and to develop recommendations for improving the enclosures. The study was carried out using the behavior observation recording program Zoo–Observer–App, with observations conducted in five European zoos over the course of a year, recording two 10-minute videos each month, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. From the obtained results, it was concluded that the spatial use of the takins' enclosure is mainly influenced by the enrichment items placed in the enclosure. The most suitable enclosures for takins have been established in Korkeasaari Zoo, Riga National Zoological Garden, and Zoo Aquarium de Madrid, however, to fully utilize them, additional feeders need to be placed. The most additions to improve takin welfare are needed in Zoopark Chomutov and Pairi Daiza.
