Angļu īpašības vārdu ar piedēkļiem –ic un –ical lietojums

Abstract

Darba nosaukums ir „Angļu īpašības vārdu ar piedēkļiem –ic un –ical lietojums". Angļu valodā ir daudz šādu īpašības vārdu ar piedēkļiem –ic un –ical, tomēr reizēm ir diezgan neskaidrs, kuru formu jālieto konkrētā gadījumā. Šī atšķirība var būt ļoti nozīmīga. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt šādus pārus, analizēt informāciju interneta datu krājumos un noskaidrot to lietojumu. Darba hipotēze ir –ic un –ical piedēkļu semantiskās īpašības sakrīt un tādējādi tos var uzskatīt par semantiskām variācijām. Izpētes metodes ir literatūras analīze un empīrisko analīzi. Divi interneta datu krājumi tiek analizēti- British National Corpora un The Corpus of Contemporary American English. Abiem ir ticami avoti, lai sniegtu visprecīzāko informāciju, tāpēc nav tik daudz gadījumu ar nepareizi lietotiem īpašības vārdiem. Daudzi piemēri ir atkarīgi no konteksta. Vairāk piemēru ar nepareizi lietotiem īpašības vārdiem bija sastopami British National Corpora.

The title is "Variation in use of English adjectives ending in –ic and -ical". There are many such adjectives ending with these suffixes –ic and –ical, however it can be rather confusing to know which form of to use in which situation. The difference between two forms can be very relevant. The goal of this paper is to carry out a research on these pairs, analyzing the information in corpora and inquire into their use. The hypothesis is: the semantic features of the suffixes -ic and -ical overlap and thus the suffixes may be regarded as semantic variants.Research methods are descriptive literature analysis and empirical research.. There are two corpora analyzed- British National Corpora and The Corpus of Contemporary American English. Both have valid sources in order to give the most precise information on the use of these adjectives that is why there were not so many examples of misused adjectives. Many examples are context-dependent. There were more examples of misused examples in British National Corpora.
